Hello My Name is Michael McTernan. I am an 18 year old male from Chester, VA.
In October of 1998. I under went an Operation to Correct a spinal problem I had called kyphosis it is a deformity of the upper back... Called "Hunch back" on may occasions. The operation was performed by (Dr. Sharps w/ tuckahoe orthopedics... Richmond VA) The surgery lasted eight full hours. During the surgery A bone graph was taken from my hip and rib cage area and I had been cut from near my neck to my waste... He "installed" Two titanium rods With 14 Titanium "hooks" to hold his work in place. I use the term "His work" in high regards because that is exactly how I feel it is. After the operation I woke up the next day in "ICU" on a respirator I was not very happy at that point... I went on to spend about two more weeks in the hospital before going home... Upon arriving at home I had to sleep in a hospital bed b/c I was unable to get up and down the stairs. The bed came for a hospital supply place I believe... It has been ten months and I feel really good now... After all this I feel that I have more that just titanium rods and huge scars on my back but now I have an experience of a life time to tell others about... I hope you have gathered a little information about me and that you will think of others that are in similar situations... Feel free to right me at any point at (LUNATIK454@aol.com) and please put titanium in the subject box... Thanx and take care

Michael has been kind enough to offer anyone interested to e-mail him..
